Keyword Research ~ What is Good Keyword Research?
April 9, 2009 at 4:47 am

Keywords
Jackie Lee asked:

Keyword research should be a cornerstone of your online business. Unfortunately many online business people have no idea what keyword research is, how to do it, and how to use it to their advantage. Once you figure out what good keyword research is, you will easily see its importance in your marketing strategy.

The first step in keyword research is to understand how keywords work. When someone comes online looking for information they usually go to a search engine and enter a word or phrase related to what they are looking for. Once entered, this query will produce a list of sites related to the word or phrase they have entered.

Generally the first listing will get about 40% of the people who do the search to click on it. The goal of keyword research is to have your site come up number one in the search engine for words related to your site that people are actually using to search for information.

Finding Relevant Keywords

When choosing keywords you want to make sure you are finding words that are related and relevant to your content. If you keywords have nothing to do with your site you will never rank in the search engines. For example, if your site is about dogs you do not want to go after keywords like credit card, or internet marketing. They are both very profitable keywords, but have no relevance to your site. You want to find keywords that are directly relevant to the content on your pages.

To come up with good keyword ideas think about what you want your site to be known for. Are you the best place to find organic dog food? If so, you may want to do some research around the term dog food, and organic dog food. You also can think about what your site offers. If you offer information about a certain kind of jewelry or bracelet, you would want to do some research to find good keywords related to jewelry and more specifically the type of bracelet you offer. Try to find keywords as closely related to what your site offers. If you find those they will be more likely to convert to sales.

What makes a good keyword.

Internet marketers throw around the term good keywords all the time. It can be very frustrating for a new online business person, who just doesn’t really know what that means. A good keyword is a word or phrase that is relevant to your site, that actually has people looking for it, and is not too competitive so you can actually rank for it in the search engines.

How do you know people are searching?

This is where many people fall down in keyword research. They come up with relevant terms to use for keywords but fail to see if anyone else is actually looking for that specific term. You want to make sure any keywords you choose have people searching for that exact term. You can use a number of tools to get this information. You can use wordtracker, and now even Google’s Adwords Keyword Tool will show you search volume. Using Google’s tool is smart because it’s information straight from the largest search engine there is. You may ask, how many searches do I need? This is a good question and will certainly depend on your site, but you should definitely look for keywords with at least 50 “hits” a day.

How do I choose appropriately competitive keywords?

People used to just enter their keywords in Google and see how many competing pages there were. This is not a very effective way to check for competition. Anyone can put up a website, and when you just enter your keyword you are getting results from every site that mentions any and all of the words in your kewyord. You can start by entering your keyword in Google with quotes around it. This will give you the results for all the sites that have that exact phrase on their site. Even better just enter your keyword and check out the first page of sites. What kind of page rank do they have? How many links do they have coming to the site? These are the things you are going to be competing against them for, so it’s wise to make sure you can beat the top sites.

As you can see keyword research can be a little intimidating, just because there’s so much to it. However, once you get the basics of keyword research you can easily find profitable keywords for your site. Once ranked for profitable keywords your site will be getting targeted free traffic, which is what every online marketer wants.

Top 5 Website Traffic Tips – How to Get Website Traffic
April 9, 2009 at 2:31 am

Traffic tips
Matt Canei asked:

Website traffic proves to be an extremely difficult task for webmasters looking to get the word out about their site. I bet almost all webmasters would agree that their site would be successful or their idea would generate a ton of money if only they had enough web traffic. Well today is your lucky day because after you learn these five tips you will be on your way to generating web traffic to your site so you can make money or provide your visitors with what they want and expect from visiting your site.

Tip #1: Article Marketing

To generate traffic to your site write a minimum of 300 word articles that explain your site and how it will benefit the visitor or if you are selling a product set up the article to provide advice or techniques similar to those explained or facilitated through your product. After your articles are written, submit them to article directories (like ezinearticles.com, goarticles.com, articlesbase.com). You should write at least 5 articles initially then follow up with an article a day for the highest level of efficiency or at least a new article a week.

Tip #2: Backlink Building

Getting links on sites outside of your own is a strong way to move up search rankings which subsequently leads to traffic increases. There are services such as those on submitedge.com that will submit your site to link directories to get links built up, but keep in mind that a ton of links in a short period may cause search engines to penalize your site's rank for link spam.

Search for websites similar to your own and propose a link exchange to their webmaster because search engines love when similar sites link to each other. Also, type in Google "link:http://www.competitorssite.com" replacing "competitorssite" with the address of top sites for your site's topic on Google to see what sites link to them. Once you see what sites have links leading to a competitor's site, seek to get links on those sites as well, copy the competition and do better.

Tip #3: Search Engine Optimization

This is the best method for those without a budget who want to get traffic without spending a lot of money or using services to submit your site to an assortment of directories. The first thing is to set up meta tags on your site. Search Google for a meta tag generator and make sure you use targeted keywords in your description, title and keyword tags in your html head.

Once that is done seek to have 5-7% of your site's content including targeted keywords, this is known as your page's keyword density. Follow tip #1 and tip #2 which will boost your website's rank along with bringing in traffic. This is a time consuming method but once you get on page one of Google, your site will have countless traffic.

Tip #4: Social Bookmarking

This is a relatively new method of obtaining web traffic and can be extremely effective when done correctly. There are a variety of sites that provide "social bookmarks." Social bookmarks are simply enough when a visitor to your site likes your sites content and goes to a social bookmarking site (like digg.com, del.icio.us, etc.) and they tag your site's content with keywords in which others can then find your site through that tag.

The best thing to do to get social bookmark tags from visitors is to place bookmark scripts to your site which can be obtained at the Digg website and addthis.com for delicious bookmark buttons. Your site can initially be submitted to Digg.com yourself and to many other social bookmarks through onlywire.com, which is a site that allows you to submit your site to a dozen or more social bookmarking sites.

Tip #5: Pay-Per-Click Advertising

The last tip of the article is paying for web traffic. This can be very expensive, but if done correctly can produce revenue far beyond your advertising costs. The leader in PPC advertising is Google AdWords. AdWords allows users to set up a small ad set up around keywords that are displayed as sponsored links when a user searches for a topic on Google. Keep in mind that the higher your budget the more traffic you will get, and that low budgets make it very difficult for your ad to produce conversions.

Secondly, keep in mind that extremely broad keywords likely have a lot of competition for ad slots and would be very expensive, so seek to have highly targeted, tightly targeted keyword phrases that target visitors that have the highest potential of becoming customers.

Backlinks — The Key To Search Engine Domination And Free Traffic
April 9, 2009 at 1:42 am

Backlinks
Joseph Martin asked:

Driving traffic to your site is the lifeblood of your online business and with all the different ways you can use to drive traffic like pay per click campaigns, banner ads and such, ultimately you want to be able to drive free traffic so your advertising costs are minimum and you get to keep all the profits to yourself.

But how do you do this?

Ranking high in the search engines. Search engines are the kings of the internet, they receive thousands of visitors everyday and at the same time they are responsible to driving traffic to thousands of other sites and these sites receive all that traffic because they rank high on the search engines. When people search for a particular term on a search engine the sites receiving the most traffic are the ones that appear in the first few pages of the search results.

Most people say the key to ranking high is to optimize your pages with the right keyword density, keywords in your title tag, keywords here, keywords there and all of these techniques work but the one with the most value to the search engines are the links pointing to your site from other sites which are known as backlinks or inbound links.

In the early days of the internet webmasters figured out the search engine’s algorithms and they were ranking high for a whole different variety of terms in order to send people to porn sites. Let’s say you searched for the word “Golf Clubs” you could easily end up on a porn site even though the search result said otherwise. The search engines needed to come up with a solution to this problem or their business would be in trouble.

They came up with the link popularity system where the website with the most backlinks would be consider more relevant than websites with a lower number of backlinks. Google in particular will give much more credit to websites with a lot of backlinks. So if your site does not have any other sites linking back to your site the chances of receiving free traffic from the search engines will be low.

In order to determine the amount of links pointing to your site you can simply go to https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/mysites and type in your domain name in the search box, click on explore URL and they’ll show you the amount of backlinks you are receiving.

Building backlinks to your site it’s extremely important if you want your site to rank well in the search engine and become an authority site. Start building those valuable links today and enjoy the free traffic.

What is Google Pagerank?
April 8, 2009 at 11:25 pm

Pageranks
andy tao asked:

Everyone will have heard of the phrase 'Google pagerank' being mentioned from time to time, most people don't even know what it is or how much of an important role is plays on the performance of your website. By learning basic methods that can increase your page rank you will be able to get the full potential out of your website. The scale goes from 0 – 10 with each step being harder to achieve, it doesn't necessarily go up one level at a time, you could be page rank (pr for short) 0 when you first do your site and then after the first update, it could jump to pr 4. It depends solely on how much work you put into it, there are no set periods when Google decides to update but it's generally around every 3 months or so. Basically Google page rank is the method of which Google uses to establish where in the search engine you will be place and your sites authority.

This does not mean if you have a pr 5 site you will outrank every competing page below you. There are a lot of factors that decide where you will actually rank which is why it's important you do your research to ensure you don't miss anything out that could severely affect your ranking. The pr of your website doesn't really alter the search engine results that much compared to the content level and link building you will of performed, but if there are two or more identical pages, Google would place the one with highest pr above the rest.

A great way of increasing your page rank is to get other sites with high pr linking to your site, this will show to Google that highly respected sites think that you have a quality site which in turn will boost your pr. You need to put a lot of thought into your link building campaign, try to go for quality over quantity. Many people waste time grabbing thousands of pr0 sites which won't have that much of an effect, Google may even penalise you for spamming. If you can get 10 pr5 links to your site it would give a better result than the thousands of pr0 would, if you get them on targeted sites you will have more chance of targeted traffic coming through to your website which has more chance of converting.

Advanced SEO Tips for Newbies
April 8, 2009 at 10:16 pm

Seo tips
Eric Dunn asked:

Such as yourself, I've constantly read various tips on how to gain popularity in various search engines and suffered a high degree of random experiment failures. As a result of everything that I have learned, I present this article in order for you to learn from my past mistakes. In this article, I will present 5 powerful tips that will change the way that you think about Search Engine Optimization.

Tip 1: Researching SEO

Before you start building a website, it is important that you understand the black and white of Search Engine Optimization. Reading one article will never be enough. Google and the other big search engines do not tell people how to create the perfect website. What most SEO professionals do is research the trend on how websites gain popularity in traffic. From there, they'll write various articles and I recommend that you read as many as possible to help formulate a well rounded decision.

As a result, you will be able to generate a website geared with more knowledge to prepare you for success rather than random trial and error.

Tip 2: Planning

What does planning have to do with SEO you ask? This is probably the most important aspect in developing your website. Planning gives you the ability to create a website and to continusily generate content pages without worrying about reconstructive efforts that consume most of your time. Why keep changing designs and shifting content if the site is set up perfectly in the first place. People usually rush to build a site without any prior planning. It's essential that you plan the following:

Resources

Budget

Site Theme

Realistic Time-lines

Final Purpose

To keep it short, planning will save you time, money, and will allow you to execute without stalling the progression of your site.

Tip 3: Site Theme

So now your armed with knowledge and have a realistic plan, but now you need to develop a site theme. Whatever your site is going to be related to, ensure that you keep it narrowed down to a specific topic. Also, expand your knowledge further than what other websites have the ability provide. Become a subject expert matter into what you are presenting. Focusing on keywords and themed content will give you the traffic that you want and need. Without this your site will be doomed to fail.

Tip 4: Type of Visitors

Type of visitors? This isn't SEO related. Wrong, the type of visitors you received is important for SEO. How is that? It's very easy to explain. If you impress your visitors to a specific site, your site can spread by word of mouth, through blogs, and through back links which is all very important in the SEO world. Impressed with certain sites, I would even advertise certain sites. For example, positive comments made to me by many about a hosting company resulted in me switching to DreamHost. Because of that, I link Dreamhost on my other sites. By linking and spreading the word, Dreamhost is self advertised with many customers.

Creating bogus sites related to cars with fake information will lead to a high bounce rate. In having a themed site, your visitors should be more focused and will click your links, even the possibility of buying products that you offer. The type of visitors you receive should never be ignored. If you have 10 visitors looking for "red shoes" that actually go to a stored themed on red shoes, that will most likely result in 6-9 straight sales. If the site theme is about red shoes, but generate tons of useless content about "boots for cats", you probably will get hundreads of visitors but will make no sales.

Tip 5: Optimization

Now that you armed with knowledge on what to do, the final stage is optimization. Just because you follow all these steps, it will not result in permanent traffic. The world of the Internet changes on a daily basis. Optimizing your site to trends of the Internet will help you succeed. For example, if text ads are more popular than image ads and you fail to adopt this trend, you may be losing revenue just because you failed to optomize the site. By optimizing your site, you may discover new traffic, more revenue, and receive more possible hits from search engines. This involves risk, but it is important for your website to grow.

Summary

You can now the create the perfect site (well as much as you can get it to near perfect). Be open, do you research, plan, and build your website accordingly. Do not give up and do not falter. The world of the Internet is always a large beast to tackle.

Increased Online Traffic Tips
April 8, 2009 at 5:42 pm

Traffic tips
Tessie Setiabudi asked:

Traffic (or web site traffic) is the term used to describe the amount of user activity on a web site. It is driving visitors to your web site. Having more traffic means you increase online traffic to your web site. Increased online traffic means more possibility of sales.

Therefore, the secret to your online success is to ensure that there is increased online traffic coming to your site, attracted by your offer to the solutions to the visitors’ problems.

Targeted and Non-Targeted Traffic

There is a distinction between different types of traffic. “Targeted” traffic refers to those who are already interested in what you have to say — they are almost at the stage where they are pre-sold. “Non-targeted” traffic comes to your site as a result of non-targeted marketing — they are not interested with your business and they rarely stay around to do business with you.

I don’t believe in buying “guaranteed traffic.” Why? In my first week in the internet business, I have more than 1,000 lists in my opt-in website but I couldn’t sell them anything! What good does it do? People who get traffics from guaranteed traffic who then join their program, 99% of them will drop within 1-2 months. Why spending money buying guaranteed traffic to increase online traffic? I want you to be smart in investing your money.

You don’t want just to increase online traffic but you want to increase online targeted traffic — which means people who respond to your ads, articles, forums, etc. The increased online traffic then consists of these people who have interests in your business at the first place. At the end, you must sell to them to earn commission. Therefore, if you increase online traffic, you could earn more commission. You need to understand more about traffics.

Free and Paid Traffics

Free Traffics — You cannot see the results of your traffics (i.e. increased online traffic) right away. It takes time. It requires more work like writing articles and joining forums to increase online traffic. However, it is great for long term benefits. The increased online traffic will still know who you are even after few months or years later.

Paid Traffics — You will see the results of your traffic immediately. Once you place a pay per click advertisement with the budget, you do not need to do much. The increased online traffic is only a short term benefit. The moment your ad is out, people do not know you anymore.

I suggest combining both free and paid traffics to increase online traffic so you secure both short and long term benefits. You need immediate results to boost your motivation and you also need long term traffic to keep your business going.

6 Ways to Determine if Your Keyword Will be Profitable
April 8, 2009 at 4:25 pm

Keywords
Richard Taylor asked:

When you’re trying to find potentially profitable keyword phrases for your web pages or Adwords campaigns, how do you know whether they’re likely to be money making or not?

And even more importantly, how do you actually find them?

First, lets review what might determine the profitability of a keyword phrase, and then I’ll tell you where you can go to find them quickly…

So what factors should you consider when trying to determine the profitability of a particular keyword phrase?

- the frequency of which your keyword phrase is searched on - the number of other web pages competing for your keyword phrase - how your keyword phrase is written - how much Pay Per Click advertisers are willing to bid for your keyword phrase - how closely matched your product is to your keyword phrase - does your keyword phrase include a product or brand name within the phrase

These six criteria above will go along way to determining how profitable a phrase will be for you.

Lets go through each of the criteria in more detail now and explore further how each actually influences the potential profitability of your keyword phrase…

1. Keyword Phrase Search Frequency

The higher the frequency that a keyword phrase is searched on, the higher the probability that it will be profitable as it will drivee you more traffic.

If your keyword phrase is never typed into a search engine, it definitely won’t bring you any traffic so you won’t make any profit from it!

2. Competition For Your Keyword Phrase Just because a keyword phrase is heavily searched on doesn’t mean it’s going to be profitable for YOU!

There is no point in optimising for traffic from highly searched on keyword phrases IF there are already thousands of other sites doing the same … because you’ll simply find it difficult to compete and your pages will have very little hope of ranking highly in the search engines.

Therefore, for a keyword to be profitable, it needs to attract “reasonable” volumes of searches whilst not having too many web pages to compete with for the top spots … otherwise any chance of profitibility will be lost!

3. How The Keyword Phrase Is Structured This is a key point. When you discover a keyword phrase that gets a lot of searches and is structured in the format of a “question”, you’ve potentially found a highly profitable keyword to exploit.

What do I mean by “structured as a question”?

Well, if you discover a highly searched on keyword phrase that starts with “why”, “how”, “where” or “which”, you’ve discovered an opportunity to provide the searcher with a “really targeted benefit”.

When you see the same question being repeated, you can be sure there’ a lot of people in that niche wanting to know the same information … so if you create a product that provides the answer and market around that keyword phrase you should see some great results … keyword phrases that are centered around a question are your opportunity to give them something valuable that they want … it’s your foot in the door!

In particular, I find using keyword phrases that are “questions” to generate information products to give away as part of my list building process to be highly effective. Simply find the answers to the question and put together a short report to give away is a great list building tool.

4. How Much Google Adwords Advertisers Are Paying For The Keyword Phrase

If advertisers are prepared to pay a lot to dispaly their advert against a keyword phrase, it must follow that its a valuable keyword phrase, and therefore should be profitable … makes sense does it not? Life really does not need to be complicated …

All you need to know is how much Adwords advertisers are paying for a keyword phrase … if its a lot and it gets traffic but isn’t too competitive, it should be profitable … if your product is closely targeted to it of course.

Knowing how much a keyword phrase is worth in Adwords is really valuable, it really indicates whether or not there is likely to be money in the niche or not … particularly if you’re going to try and make money from Google Adsense

I’ll show you a great tool in a moment for finding information on Adwords bid amounts for keyword phrases.

5. How Well Matched Your Product Is To Your Keyword Phrase

There’s no point in identifying a potentially profitable keyword phrase and then using it to sell a product that isn’t closely matched to it.

It’s really important that your product is closely aligned to the keyword phrase if you’re to make money from that phrase and achieve good conversion rates.

6. Include A Product Name In Your Keyword Phrase

Keyword Phrases that include a specific product name or brand name are likely to be high converting keywords if you’re going to use them for affiliate marketing, because people already have been pre-sold on the product as they know of its existence before they search on it.

If you’re affiliate marketing, it’s particularly important that you include the product name or brand name within some of your keyword phrases.

So there you have it, you now know how to identify profitable keyword phrases using the six criteria above to analyse their potentially profitability.

At the start I said I would tell you how to find all of the information you need to analyse your keywords in one place … well if you visit the web site below I will!

Search Engine Optimization Tips and Advice to Increase your Page Rank
April 8, 2009 at 3:22 pm

Backlinks tips
Josh C asked:

SEO is a big topic that comes up all the time with my clients. Everyone wants to be the number one website on Google, but don't know how to achieve this. This article is NOT saying you are going to be able to get to number one, but it will give you some guide lines on how to increase your chances greatly.

The most important item relating to SEO is to remember that CONTENT IS KING. Without endless amounts of fresh and interesting content you will never get to the top. But it isn't just the quality of content that counts; it is how the content is written. For example if you are selling cell phones you want to make sure your keywords appear in your text over and over again. It may seem repetitive but this is the best way to get Google, MSN and Yahoo! to notice you.

The next tips are in no particular order because they all play a similar small role, but together make all the difference.

Use meta tags and descriptions – This is an older html technology that is considered dead by some but is still being used. Your meta description is often the description that a search engine will use when displaying your website.

Wrap text in paragraph and headline tags. Using the proper tags will tell a search engine that your text is indeed content. Headline tags are given a higher priority by search engines.

No Frames – stay away from frames, it makes it impossible for a search engine to appropriately link to your site. In-turn a user may find your site but it may not have all the page elements attached to it.

Links – Using your keywords in your links is a great way to emphasize those words to a search engine. Never use "Click here" it is a wasted link.

Backlinks – Backlinks are links from other sites that point to your site. Backlinks are one of the primary things that Google looks for in determining rank. The best way to build backlinks is with your content. You can syndicate your content over blogs, rss feeds and general article submissions. Each time you submit an article make sure it has your link on it. Joining forums and social networks are also great ways of building backlinks but many of them frown on blatant advertisements so you have to do this wisely.

Use Text – It may sound simple, but actually using text instead of images allows a google bot or yahoo crawler to read you site.

No Flash – Flash sites are bad for SEO plain and simple. Even newer Flash techniques that allow crawlers to read the site still won't end up at the number one spot simply because of lack of perceived content since your website is only one page.

Web maps – Creating and submitting a web map notifies the search engines of which pages are the most important and how often they change.Time – SEO is slow, be patient.

There are many other things you can do to increase you rank naturally, just remember do not cheat and pay for a service to do this for you.

Characteristics of a Good Web Traffic Solution
April 8, 2009 at 1:39 pm

Traffic
Robert asked:

To increase web site traffic, many webmasters have already employed the services of web traffic solution companies. The employment of such companies to get more website traffic may seem a bit frivolous for a number of people, thinking they can increase web site traffic by themselves. But the competitive nature of all things online has made it imperative for people to become more aggressive with their tools and methods. This explains why more and more websites have used such services to increase web site traffic.

But not all web traffic solution companies are created equal. As with everything else, there are good service providers and there are bad service providers. And since it is a competitive field, many web traffic solution companies have come up in recent years, all of them promising to increase web site traffic for website owners. So can one determine if the company is indeed a good one? What type of company should website owners avoid?

A good web traffic solution company will never resort to illegal and unethical ways to increase web site traffic. Unethical ways to increase web site traffic include using hidden frames, using "bots" or programs to create fake visits, and posting the website URL on newsgroups and bulletin boards. Meanwhile, sending out unsolicited messages (or spam) is an illegal way to increase web site traffic. But why are these methods to increase web site traffic unethical and ineffective?

For one, these methods to get more website traffic focus on the statistics of the visits and not the quality of the visits. It is not enough to get more website traffic; the web traffic solution company should provide quality traffic. The company should direct people who are interested in the website, people who want to visit the website because it is in line with their intentions and interest. The said methods to get more website traffic are forced; the websites get more website traffic, but the visitors will immediately leave once they figure out what happened.

In line with this, good web traffic solution companies will never misrepresent your company. They will not embellish facts or provide false information merely to attract more web site traffic. Instead, their marketing efforts will focus on what the website has to offer. This way, the visitors of the website will get exactly what they expected, which would result to not just more web site traffic but also an increase in sales, for example (in case the website is an retail website).

Besides the services of the web traffic solution company, other factors also determine the quality of a service provider. As always, the price should be a main consideration. Is the price of the service worth the results? Because this is a very competitive, many companies offer money back guarantees: get a refund if the promised traffic is not met. Customer service is also a good indicator of service quality; good service providers have customer service hotlines. At the very least, they should provide contact numbers and e-mail addresses, and their response to queries and concerns regarding the service (whther before or after the purchase) should always be prompt and sufficient.

Many people are concerned with the methodology of such companies to get more web site traffic. There are many ways to generate fake traffic, leaving the website the short end of the stick. But getting the services of a good web traffic solution company will ensure positive results. After all, the Internet may be home to a number of schemes and frauds, but it is also home to some of the most reliable and dependable companies and service providers around.

Traffic Generation Tips To Explode Your Business
April 8, 2009 at 12:35 pm

Traffic
Craig Schulze asked:

Traffic generation is the key to an online business success. No Traffic means No Business. You could have the best product, best sales letter in the world but if no one knows about it sales are going to be very low. Bottom line is getting traffic is crucial.

Traffic generation are the marketing techniques you apply to generating leads for your business and building a massive database which overtime will convert into customers. There are off line and online marketing methods.

For the purpose of this article I will cover predominantly online methods for you to get started but there are hundreds of different techniques you can use to get traffic to your business.

Traffic generation or lead generation for any business tyically requires a cost which is significantly higher cost than getting a customer to buy more products from you, therefore, it is very important to great conversion strategies and retention strategies in place once your business is up and running so you can improve your bottom line.

Today technology is advanced and to many people often a daunting task and for that very reason may stop people from investing into Internet Marketing strategies to help increase sales. If this is the case I would do one of two things. First, I would look to employ someone who specialises in traffic generation. There are people out there today who do this as a full time job. Pay the professionals. Second, I would look to invest some time and money into self education. Alternatively, look towards a mentor or a coach to help you achieve your desired outcome.

Traffic Generation Techniques

There are 100s of ways to generate traffic to your site ranging from offline to online traffic. Some techniques will have a significant cost, others will be FREE, for example, saying to someone at a party here is my business card go and have a look at my site. So open your mind, you may focus on a couple of different methods to start with and then branch out with some more advanced strategies later after you have developed your skills and mastered some of the traffic generation techniques.

Here are a few to kick start your business

Low to No Cost Methods

1. Tell a friend

As mentioned above you surely have a few friends that may be interested. You obviously have a friendship so you may not want to do a hard sell but why dont you just say, I have just joined this program online, it is a way I am looking at making a bit of extra cash if you want to have a look here is the address. Then they can make there mind up yourself. You will probably already have a few people in mind that would most likely jump at the concept.

2. E-Mail

You can send out a group e-mail to all your friends, if they are not interested kindly just ask them to send it on to people that may be interested. If you are advanced you could look into setting up an auto responder. The system has an auto responder working on your behalf to convert your leads, however, we have personally introduced our own auto responder to improve our relationship with our leads to convert to m1 consultants or upgrading consultants from m1 to m3. The other value of our auto responder is we are going to provide valuable e-mails to help all consultants in our team build their business.

3. Social Networking Groups

Groups such as myspace, facebook, youtube are great ways you can sell your product. There are groups on social networking sites that you can join yourself; you can set up a page and just network with people. I joined facebook and had a number of people I had not spoken to in years find me, some of them were actually people that are interested in what I am doing now and have invested money into some business mentoring, and purchased products. You will be surprised at the power of these mediums to generate traffic to your site.

4. Buy a Baby Name Book

This is out there thinking but by going through the names in the book it my spark a thought of someone you know with that name that you can contact and direct them to your site. While not a traditional method, it is cost effective and certainly a way to spark your memory on someones name and then contact them and try to get them to look at your site.

5. Blogging

Blogging is probably a more advanced strategy but it can be free by joining wordpress.com, or blogger.com and setting up a blog post which is effectively an online diary.

This certainly helps drive traffic to your site, it helps build rapport with your customers and creates a connection. Blogging also helps with search engine optimisation.

Some other advanced blogging strategies including

a)Commenting on other peoples blogs and adding your URL on their blog

b)Submit your blog to directories. Directories such as Digg.com and Decicious.com have heaps of traffic.

c)List your products in your blog rolls

d)Google Adsense (listed below)

e)Product reviews with a resource box at the end of the review

f)Give your blog content for other people to use

6. Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

SEO is the process of ranking your website in the free part of Google or other search engines. Google looks at the code of each website and ranks your site based on a number of features. It is obviously important to get as close to the top as possible because that increases your chances of making a sale or having people click onto your website. The first thing Google looks at is the title tag at the top of the page and the last thing is the bottom right hand of the page. It is known as the first and last principle. You want to have the same keyword at the top and bottom of the page. Some other key features that help with page rank include page title, meta description tag, meta key word tag. This is a simplified look at SEO and can be effected by a number of off page strategies also but if you at least do the basics you will improve your chances of generating some more traffic.

7. Google Ad Words

Google Ad Words is effectively paying for your leads. You put an ad up and when people click on the ad it will cost you money. It can be costly if you do not have any idea on what you are doing. My advice is only start exploring this avenue once you are either generating sales and have some cash to invest in marketing strategies or are very savvy in this area. In saying all that it is a great way to build a database and make some sales once you understand how to do it properly.

8. Zango

Very similar to setting up a Google ad words campaign. It is an online media company that gives people free access to games, videos and other online entertainment. In return for the free content they agree to view targeted advertising.

9 eBay

There are over 270 million people on eBay holding a credit card in their hands. Therefore, for any business in the world I would suggest if you want to get an online presence and do not understand Internet Marketing have an eBay business and set up your store. You can not directly direct traffic from eBay however there are a number of people that creatively send traffic from their eBay business to their Internet business.

10. Google Ad Sense

You can advertise on other peoples websites and blogs and it is a pay per click method. Internet Marketers advertise their products on their own websites because it increases sales significantly.

11. Articles

You can submit articles to article submission websites. Great examples of article submission websites include articlemarketer.com and you can direct the traffic to a specific site. With article submission the subject line is crucial. Like Google adwords and Zango you need to use great key words in your subject line that you think people would put in the search section of Google to find your product. Another important thing to understand with articles is that you only want to advertise at the end of the article and in particular in the authors resource box. Have great content in the article and then they will want to buy your product at the end of the article and then from the authors resource box send them to a forced opt-in page. On the forced opt in offer a free report, newsletter or some form of free gift and then once they have opted into your page have a sales letter with the product. In this instance you drive your traffic to your site and once people opt into your page you will have an auto responder set up to convert your leads.

12. Create products to give away

Another traffic generation technique is to create products. You could write an eBook, create a video or audio and with your product you could promote throughout the product. One method is create a product and give the resale rights to your product. You advertise at the start of the product and the end of the product and maybe with a footer at the bottom of the page. You give people the rights to sell your eBook and keep all the money and the trade off is you can get traffic and branding. That is a win win situation.

13. Hiring someone to drive the traffic

If you are not technically minded, or are not interested in self-education I would strongly recommend you pay someone to drive the traffic to the site. There are plenty of people you can pay to do it for you. Obviously, you would want to budget for this and like any business you need to have a budget for marketing, your budget is set up for outsourcing traffic generation.

14. Affiliate marketing

Save the best for last

Regarded as the greatest way to market your product is by affiliate marketing and giving people commissions for making a sale on your behalf.

These techniques will certainly improve your ability to make a sale and generate sales for you business. As suggested, improve your self help knowledge on traffic generation because once you know how to drive traffic to a site you certainly have significant power in generating more sales and profit for your business. Once again you can have the best product and the best sales letter in the world but if you can not drive traffic to the site you do not have a business.
